Summary

A Senior Renewables Instructor will be responsible for the effective training of the energy employees in wind & solar field services.  Primary focus on GWO, Safety, and Technical Curriculums at job sites across North America, and supporting the classroom and hand-on training at the RNWBL Houston Training Center.  Student population is both internal RNWBL employees as well as external students in the industry.

Basic Responsibilities:

• Provide training to build a foundation of safety and technical knowledge related to the operation and maintenance of wind turbines, including but not limited to: GWO (BST, BTT, ART) or Working-at-Heights, Lock-Out Tag-Out, Electrical Safety, Basic Electrical, Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW), Medium/High Voltage, Basic Mechanical, Basic Hydraulics, Cranes and Rigging, CPR/First-Aid, Confined Space and Self-Rescue.

• Utilize training equipment, structures, simulators, and aids in daily lessons.

• Design & organize curriculums, training aids and mock-ups.

• Administer exercises and tests by use of predetermined objective criteria.

• Process training records and maintain files and databases.

• Perform routine maintenance, calibration and repair on lab equipment and other instructional aids.

• Initiate requisitions for consumable supplies and equipment repairs.

• Maintain and inventory of supplies and equipment and assure security for each.

• Meet and stay current on GWO, and Safety instructor qualifications.

• Assess and evaluate achievement of students in technical knowledge, professional skills and activities in the classroom.

• Ensure that students follow all established policies, procedures and safety practices.

• Initiate motivation practices and appraisals to affirm the student-learning processes.

• Instruct students in person-social skills and profession-related behaviors.

• Ensure that students follow all established policies, procedures and safety practices.

• Ensure that a professional training environment is maintained at work location, or in the classroom and shop areas at all times.

• Maintain a professional appearance, posture and demeanor.

• Perform other duties as assigned by RNWBL TRAINING Leadership.

Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrate a passion for safety and education.

• Demonstrate experience and characteristics of leadership.

• Able to work productively and communicate effectively with students and new employees

• Background in mechanical and electrical component repair or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions following manufacturers' requirements.  Familiarity with performing retrofits, and good operations & maintenance practices.

• Knowledge and experience practicing EHS and Quality Procedures.

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Powerpoint and Excel required)

• Familiarity with updating/managing Learning Management System (LMS)

• Must be personable, energetic and have a customer service focus

• Must be self-motivated. Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision.

• Ability to adapt quickly and effectively to a dynamic environment.

• Must be able to deal responsibly with confidential information

• Strong organizational skills.

• Must be able to work alone or with a team.

• Must be able to travel to perform training.

Basic Requirements:

• Five (5) or more years of increasing responsibility in the field of wind turbine installation and repair, and/or other renewable field services.

• Technical/University Education degree, or its military equivalent, OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Trainer/Instructor.  All military experience is welcome!

• Global Wind Organization (GWO) and/or wind energy instructor credentials preferred

• Experience and knowledge of OSHA compliance, First Aid/CPR, NFPA 70, Wind/Solar Safety programs

• Knowledge of electro-mechanical skills, hydraulic and pneumatic skill sets, and rigging is a requirement.

• A positive attitude and ability to plan and adapt to change

• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

• Knowledge of solar equipment is a plus

Work Location: Hybrid.   Site travel (~50-100%).  Training Center Support (~35%)
